  1. Hello...

It looks like Postie will solve a need I have. If, that is, I can actually get it to work.

I use Yahoo! Web Hosting for my site at http://www.melodeeaaron.com as well as for my E-Mail service. They use, as you probably know, SSL for both the IMAP and POP3 access.

Using WP 3.3.1 and Postie 1.4.3, installation of Postie goes fine, but when I activate Postie, I get an error message reading: "Warning: the IMAP php extension is not installed. Postie may not function correctly without this extension (especially for non-English messages). Please see the FAQ for more information." The FAQ tells me I need the php-imap extension installed.

    Whatever that is.

On the Postie mailserver set up page, I can't select IMAP, IMAP-SSL, or POP3-SSL.

A brief conversation with Yahoo! Web Hosting support tells me that they have "...all php extensions installed..." and that I need to contact the script author to make sure the calls are correct.

    Now...

I am NOT a coder or developer. I have no clue what any of this really means. OK, I did do some C/C++ and VB work YEARS ago, but I am an author, not an application developer. I would appreciate answers in language I can understand!

Frankly, I suspect a problem with Yahoo!, but I don't even know enough to ask them the right questions.

Anyone know how to get this working?

    Thanks!

    Keep Loving!

  2. I still have the above problem, but I guess no one else has solved it either.

Yahoo continues to insist that they have "...PHP 5 fully implemented..." and that the problem is with "...your script...".

Anyone new reading this able to shed some light on the topic?

    Keep Loving!

  3. I finally got Yahoo! Web Hosting to admit that they do not fully implement PHP. The php_imap.dll is one of the extensions they do not support. Sadly, they won't give me a list of what they do and do not support.

    So...

If you are trying to get Postie to work with Yahoo!, don't waste your time.

Now this is settled, I'll find a hosting service that does what they say they will do.

    Keep Loving!
